WWE hosts first Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia

KARACHI: WWE made history on Friday and celebrated its first live event in Saudi Arabia. The largest WWE Royal Rumble, held at the City King Abdullah Sports Stadium in Jeddah, featured seven championship games, High Profile Revenge and the largest Royal Rumble Match in history with 50 male participants.

The show's configuration had a special seat for a sofa for the royal family of Arabia. Pyro and fireworks were used, though the WWE removed them from their usual transmissions.

The atmosphere of the show, though electric first, proved quite contradictory. The more than 50,000 spectators (including men, women and children) usually applauded in the submissions of the main stars and many of the best moments of the show took place without much response, unlike the shows of I live in the United States where the reaction the amount increases the intensity.
The show, however, was entertaining for the simple fact that it took place in a country that is still open to the world. Commentator Corey Graves said it best when he said the show was a first step in "driving cultural diversification in Saudi Arabia".

After the one-hour kick-off, in which Jerry Lawler, Jim Ross, and Booker T debated the results and rivalries of the program, the national anthem of Saudi Arabia and the United States of America rang. The main five-hour show started with John Cena against Triple H, who had losses at WrestleMania earlier this month. After a slow but competitive game, Cena emerged victorious. He thanked the country in the Middle East and his people for their hospitality and said that he had not missed the show for the world.

In addition, Cedric Alexander beat Kalisto to retain the championship Cruiser, Jeff Hardy defeated Jinder Mahal to retain his American title, the Bludgeon brothers retained his title live tag team against The Usos and Seth Rollins retained his Intercontinental title against Samoa Smackdown Joe, Finn Balor and The Miz, in a fantastic staircase game that has collected the songs "That's Great" from the Arab crowd. Matt Hardy and Bray Wyatt defeated Cesaro and Sheamus to win the vacant Raw Tag Team titles.

After a spectacular win against Cena at WrestleMania, Undertaker rose again and defeated Rusev in his coffin game.

Meanwhile, AJ Styles and Vengeance WWE Championship WrestleMania Shinsuke Nakamura finished in doubles countdown, Lesnar retained his title of WWE champion Universal against Roman Reigns controversial on a steel cage match.

One of the segments that will certainly be discussed was the presentation of four Saudi fighters selected to train at the WWE Performance Center in the US and join the company. Nassar (Mecca), Hussein (Medina), Mansoour (Riyadh) and Fisal (Jeddah) came to an enthusiastic audience when interrupted by Khosrow Daivari and Ariya. The two brothers fled the flag of their homeland Iran and insulted local fighters.

However, it was the main event of the show that provided memorable moments, though not as exciting as it should have been. Brown Strowman, who reached number 41, has surpassed 49 superstars to win the game, the glorious trophy and a Royal Rumble Championship with the Saudi theme. Not only that, he made a record of 13 eliminations in the game and broke Reign's previous 12 record.

The beloved hero of all battles, Daniel Bryan, who was the first to start the game, continued to survive an hour and 16 minutes surviving a Royal Rumble match. Despite not winning, the star reached the last three and broke the previous record of Rumble 2006 Rey Mysterio (one hour, two minutes and 12 seconds) before being eliminated by Big Cass then eliminated by winner Strowman. The evening ended historically with WWE President Vince McMahon and a representative from Saudi Arabia handing the trophy and title to Strowman.
